BREAKING: Got him

True to their word, Northern Territory police have located and arrested alleged child killer, Jefferson Lewis.

“We’re coming for you,” police warned the on-the-run fugitive earlier in the day.

NT police released a statement at 10pm tonight, April 30 saying they had Lewis in custody after locating him at a residence in Alice Springs.

The brief statement, of less than 30 words, gave no detail as to the circumstances, or exact location of his arrest.

“A short time ago, the Northern Territory Police Force located and arrested Jefferson Lewis at a residence in Alice Springs.

“Further information will be provided early in the morning.” the statement said.

Lewis’ arrest comes less than 12 hours after the body of the little girl, now referred to as Kumanjayi Little Baby, at her family’s request, was discovered five kilometres south of Alice Springs shortly before 12pm today.

Shortly after 1.45 today, police announced the tragic development, bringing to an end the search for Kumanjayi Little Baby.

While the search for the girl had concluded, police ramped up the hunt for the man accused of abducting her late on Saturday night.

“The focus, right now, is to locate Jefferson Lewis.

“That is our sole job in this investigation, right now,” Assistant Commisioner, Peter Malley said.

He also warned Lewis police were ‘coming for’ him and told his family not to offer him any assistance.

“I say to the family of Jefferson Lewis, that we believe he has murdered this child.

“Do not assist him. Get him to the police station and we’ll look after him.

“And I say to Jefferson Lewis: We’re coming for you.”
